Clarence “Ed” Edward Cornelius, age 82, of Elizabethtown, PA passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022. He was born in Altoona, PA on April 5, 1939 to the late Paul Charles Cornelius and Betty Corrine (Yohn) Cornelius.
Ed proudly served his country in the United States Army. Ed went on to work as a carpenter for forty-seven years, before retiring in 2002 at the age of sixty-three as a Union Carpenter with the Local 492. He enjoyed hunting, camping, playing horseshoes, doing yard work, and working on his puzzle books. Ed’s greatest joy of all was spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Ed is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy Cornelius of Elizabethtown, PA; three children: James L. Cornelius (Katherine) of United Kingdom, Patty Ann Shipton (Shawn) of Elizabethtown, PA, and Clarence Paul Edward Cornelius (Kristen) of Maytown, PA; six grandchildren: Cody, Sierra (Mike), Chase, Brady, Connor, and Camryn; five bonus grandchildren: Paige, Evan, Haydn, Leanna, and Shawn III; brother, Paul Cornelius of Street, MD; and sister, Barbara McLaughlin of Baltimore, MD.
In addition to his parents, Ed is preceded in death by his three brothers: Stewart, Calvin, and David Cornelius; and sister, Carol Ferrante.
A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, March 4, 2022 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 South Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911 where friends and family may begin visiting at 10:00AM. Burial will follow at New Bridge Cemetery.
