To those attending our Meeting for Worship for the first time…
Quaker worship occurs in the sphere of silence and finds meaning therein. The meeting begins when the worshippers enter and lift their hearts to the Divine. It continues until the conveners shake hands, as do all with one another in token of concluding worship.
From time to time, an individual may be moved to offer a “message” to the group. Spoken messages may occur many times during a meeting or there may be none at all. When such a message is delivered, no outward response is necessary. If moved to stand, speak, and share a message, do so. It is customary to speak once and to allow a brief space between messages.
