Charles Henry Baker, Sr., age 72 of North East, MD, formerly of Chesapeake City, MD, passed away on October 18, 2026. He was born on October 30, 1953 in Elkton, MD to the late Leroy Hardin Baker and Catherine Sarah (Biggs) Baker.
Charlie is survived by his son, Joe Baker (Mallory); his grandchildren: Tristan Baker, Aubree Baker, Brynlee Baker, and Delaney Baker; his former spouse, Lois Baker; his siblings: Gary Baker (Mariann), Christine Poore (Raymond), Dennis Baker (Kathy), and Debbie Foley Corron (Matt).
Charlie loved the simple pleasures in life, especially anything that had an engine, a little speed, or a great story behind it. Cars were one of his greatest passions, and he loved the excitement and roar of the engines at the drag strip. When he wasn’t enjoying the thrill of racing, you could often find him out crabbing or fishing, enjoying the peace and quiet of being on the water. Whether he was working on cars, watching a race or casting a line, he was happiest doing the things he loved.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Charles “Bake” Henry Baker, Jr.; and siblings: Rita Yonko, Betty Foster, Nancy Davis, and Raymond Baker.
Services for Charles will be held privately for the family.
