Charles “Charlie” Bernard Wright, Sr., age 81, of North Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, February 28, 2026. He was born on March 15, 1944, in Baltimore, MD, to the late Louis Tyler Wright and Mary Carmelita (Phisterer) Wright.

Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years. During his service, he was stationed aboard the USS William M. Wood (DD-715), where he demonstrated the commitment and sense of duty that remained with him throughout his life.

Following his military service, Charlie became a respected small business owner, leading Wright Enterprises and Associates for 35 years. Through his leadership, integrity, and determination, he built not only a successful business but lasting relationships within the community. His strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit were an inspiration to many.

Outside of work, Charlie had a passion for playing pool. He was a familiar and friendly face at the Delaware Veterans Club Post 1, where he enjoyed both the competition and, more importantly, the camaraderie of fellow veterans and friends. The friendships he built there were among his most treasured.

Charlie will be remembered for his service, his dedication to his business, and the joy he found in simple pleasures shared with others. His presence, humor, and steady character will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Charlie is survived by his son, Charles Bernard Wright, Jr. (Millisa); daughter, Carmelita Wright; 8 grandchildren; and 6 siblings. In addition to his parents, Charlie is preceded in death by his 3 siblings.

A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 11AM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921, where friends and family may begin visiting at 10AM. A burial will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made payable to the “Wilmington VA Medical Center Volunteer Services” and sent in care of 1601 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
