Carol Jean Ritz, 62, of Elkton, MD, passed away November 17, 2014 at Johns Hopkins Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Milford, DE on August 12, 1952, Carol was the daughter of Mary Esther Mills and the late Louis O. Mills. She taught elementary school for 38 ½ years in the Cecil County Public School System. She graduated from Salisbury State University and did graduate studies at the University of Delaware. Carol was instrumental in the Cecil County Classroom Teachers Union as a faculty representative. She had a genuine passion for quality education with the children as her priority. Carol treasured her time at the beach and was an avid gardener with a love of fresh flowers. She was devoted to family, and time around the family table was sacred. She had profound faith in the Lord which formed the foundation of her family life and values.
Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Michael J. Ritz of Elkton; two sons, Garrett Mason Ritz (Jessica) of Middletown, NJ and Nathan Mills Ritz (Panthini) of Glen Mills, PA; 3 sisters, Cindy Turner, Melissa Mills and Melinda Mills; and brother, John Mills (Joan).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Saturday November 22, 2014 at 1:30 pm. Friends and family may call at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A. 259 East Main St., Elkton, MD on Friday November 21, 2014 from 6-8:00 p.m. Burial will follow the Mass at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Flowers are welcome, or donations may be made to the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital and mailed to the funeral home.
