Carmen Delia Marrero at the age of 88 passed peacefully with her loved ones by her side on October 3, 2023, at her home in Elkton, MD. Carmen was born on September 5, 1935, in Naranjito, Puerto Rico to the late Vicente Bonilla and Josefa (Negron) Bonilla.
Carmen was a deeply spiritual and devoted Catholic. She attended mass every Sunday and prayed the rosary daily. With her strong faith in God, she became a Godmother to several people within the church, creating long lasting relationships. Carmen worked for many years as a professional seamstress in the interior design and clothing manufacturing industry. Her gifted sewing skills made her an amazing seamstress. She enjoyed making clothes, custom slip covers, curtains and draperies, quilts, bedspreads, and doing upholstery. Her love for children took her out of retirement, taking a position with the After Care program at Immaculate Conception School for over 20 years. The children, parents, and coworkers loved her, calling her Miss Carmen and coming back year after year to see her. Carmen enjoyed cooking, especially her signature rice and beans, which everyone loved. She liked playing cards, and dominos with family and friends. Carmen’s greatest passion and love was for her family. She was loved by all that knew her and will be deeply missed.
