It has been a year now since you were taken from your beautiful wife, and family. There is not a day goes by that we do not think of you and your lovely wife. We have photos all over the house of the four of us together, and remember the great times we all had. So many wonderful memories. We miss you Carlos, and we miss your loving wife, and mother in law Debby so very much. We thank the Lord we have those memories of you. We will see you when we enter the gates of heaven my Brother. I miss you deeply.... But I know one day we will be together again. 1Thessalonians 4:13-18 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For this we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the Archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. See you soon my love.

SGT William T Moss left a message on January 22, 2016:
I worked alongside SFC Martinez (he prefered Carlos as he came closer to retirement) for about 3 years. He never once swore or raised his voice in anger. A true man of God. His experience and knowledge were unparallelled and I always knew who to go to if I needed advice from someone I could trust. He was amazing. You'd never know by his calm demeanor how extensive his experience was. He had a way of making work easy (which we all liked) and getting it all done without stressing. All the little things he did add up to so much. I always tried to let him know how much I appreciated him and he was always so humble he wouldn't let me. His advice and all his stories will be missed. There's a lot he left for us to think about in his lessons and stories he told. So much to laugh about. He truly left a mark that I will remember with a smile. I was sad when he left the Army for retirement, but I was also happy for him, knowing that he had accepted that it was his time to move on. He had kept in touch with people at the unit, recently wishing us a Merry Christmas and once in awhile I'd get a call from him checking up on me. I was even more sad when he passed, but I know that Carlos is in heaven now because it is part of God's plan. This is a sad moment for us, though we know he is in a better place shining his blessings on us. I am certain of this, because I knew very well who he was. Among many of his character traits, SFC Carlos Martinez was a great warrior, a hero, and a good friend. He was also a true Christian, a family man, and a great mentor to anyone he crossed paths with. I will miss him tremendously. May he rest in eternal peace in Heaven.

Bro. Carlos was a great Christian Brother, one who always smiled, regardless of the circumstances. He's up in Heaven running a marathon with Pastor Phillips and Jesus (I can only imagine). I remember him always giving the Dorcus ladies at NSBC a hard time. He always found a way to make you laugh - and now he has a permanent smile on his face in Heaven. He will be missed by Family, friends and fellow Soldiers. He's probably already been assigned as a "Captain of Thousands" by Jesus! Dale Cowan, 1SG(R), 19 Jan 16

We had several in-depth conversations about Jesus and went to a service in Texas together. I loved his sense of humor and candor. Not only was he a co-worker, but a friend...the opportunity was just opening for a closer relationship. I am very sad for that, but I know he's in good, God company!
Thomas Briceland left a message on January 19, 2016:
I remember Carlos for his calm demeanor. I could ask him anything, no matter how dumb, and he would always answer with a smile. He was a positive person who genuinely cared for others. Heaven has definitely gained another angel. R.I.P., Sergeant!

Our hearts are broken at the loss of Carlos, a great friend, and brother in Christ, but also was more like our own brother and family. We have known Carlos, Laura and Debby since about 1998, and started a friendship that became more like family. We had many good times with them, and had many times of laughter and joy, and great meals! Carlos was a great and gentle man, always had a hug for you, and was so good at lifting you up when you were having a bad day. He and Laura had a love like no other, you could see how much they loved each other every time you saw them together. Carlos helped out every chance he could at the church here in TX, and also personally helped out when my mother needed a garage built in KS (they were stationed at Ft. Riley then). So much fun and laughter working with him that day, and Laura and Debby joined us at mom's, it meant so much to my mother to have them there. We have missed Carlos, Laura and Debby so much, and it has broken our hearts to know he was taken from us way too soon. Carlos you were a light in this life to those around you, always bringing a smile and hug to those who needed an uplifting moment. We will miss you, but will see you in heaven someday soon! Laura words cannot express how much we love you, you are our Sissy and our heart is broken into pieces that you have to go through the loss of your sweet Carlos. We are ever here for you, only a phone call away. We hope to come and see you sometime, it's way past time to do so. Hugs and love to you Laura, Debby, Kari and Carlos' brothers, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. "A Friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart." That is what our friendship/love to you is!

I saddened to hear about SFC Martinez! I had the pleasure of assisting him with his DTS and CITI Bank issues when he was stationed at the 20th CBRNE Command. He always had a soft demeanor about him. My heart goes out to SFC Martinez family and I will be praying for you! One thing for sure is SFC Martinez is sitting in the presence of the Lord! The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:8 - "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."

Carlos was a good man who was taken too soon and my thoughts and prayers go to his wife and family. I truly enjoyed working with him at the 20th and spent several TDYs with him at NTC. He always had a peaceful, positive demeanor and we could always depend on Carlos. My enduring memory of Carlos was our interaction after a situation I had at work. Carlos had a similar situation but he handled his much differently due to his kind, easy going and respectful nature. We both enjoyed a chuckle afterward but it revealed to me what a great person Carlos was. May the Lord bless him and keep him and give his family peace.
