Brady Erickson Willman, age 25, of Middletown, DE passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024, due complications associated with his lifelong medical conditions. He was born on January 23, 1999, in Newark, DE. Brady was the beloved son of Scott B. Willman, and Tracy L. (Klingmeyer) Willman.
Brady graduated from St. George Technical High School’s Biotechnology Program, Middletown, DE, class of 2017. He earned his Associate’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Delaware in 2019, with the intention of one day providing emotional & mental health support to children living with the challenges of their congenital health conditions.
Brady was a 12-year member of Cub Scout Pack & Boy Scout Troop 56 of Newark, DE, where he earned his Eagle Scout rank with the support of his special Troop mentor John and his Scoutmaster Brian. He was a proud member of the Boy Scouts of America’s Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s National Honor Society, where he earned his Vigil Honor for recognition of leadership qualities, camping skills, and other scouting ideals. The highlight of his scouting career was his Seabase High Adventure week with his Troop and Scoutmaster Dad sailing and snorkeling in the beautiful Florida Keys.
Brady had a talent and passion for music. He wrote, produced, and performed his own music under the artist’s name “$lyce.” He collaborated with other musicians on a national level on numerous performance and production projects. His talent for artistry to develop his own album covers and music videos to build his brand further supported his creative outlet. He had a unique sense of self and style and left his indelible mark on the music scene. His friendship and creative partnership with his best friend/brother Justin was profoundly important to him.
Brady also had a lifelong passion for aquatic life and all reptiles and was a fish tank afficionado. Vacations always including a day at the local aquarium, and some extra-special days swimming with the dolphins and floating peacefully in the lazy river with the stingrays at Discovery Cove in Florida. Spending summers in the creek behind his house in West Branch with his fishing nets was also a highlight of his childhood. He delighted in building unique habitats for his treasured fish, frogs, & salamanders and watching them thrive and grow. He had wonderful memories of his boyhood spent with his best buddies Noah, David, Nathan, and Quinn.
Brady was an extraordinary person who fought hard to live a full and “normal” life in his too-short 25 years on this earth. He was a shining light whose example inspired us all to become the best versions of ourselves. He left his imprint on the hearts of everyone who knew him and will be dearly missed by all.
Brady is survived by his awe-inspired parents; awesome brother, Chase A. Willman; special sister, Paige E. Willman; and paternal grandmother, Barbara A. Willman from Lecanto, FL. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, James H. Willman, and maternal grandparents, Harriet Ann van Boven and John F. Klingmeyer, both of Historic New Castle, DE.
