Billie Ray Brown, age 69, of Elkton, MD, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017. Billie was born in Athens, OH on January 6, 1948 to the late Billie S. and Katherine (Dowler) Brown.
Billie attended Harford Community College where he studied Criminal Justice. He then went on to be a Police Officer, Detective First Class for the Aberdeen Police Department. Billie served his country as a Vietnam Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion, Perryville Post 135. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing and decoy carving. Billie also enjoyed woodworking and furniture making.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jeanette Brown of Elkton, MD; two daughters: Angela Brown Bowers and her husband, Bob of Forest Hill, MD and Deiana Brown Christley of Port Deposit, MD; four grandchildren: Corey Christley of Port Deposit, MD, Kyle Pitzer and wife, Chynna currently of England, Morgan Christley of Port Deposit, MD, and Lily Pitzer of Forest Hill, MD; great granddaughter, Olivia Pitzer; brother, Mike Brown and wife, Jo of New Marshfield, OH; sisters: Nance Curtis and husband, Steve of Delaware, OH, Kathy Wolfe and husband Steve of Athens, OH, and several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs: Molly, Buck , and Nubbs.
A celebration of life is planned locally in Maryland in January as well as Spring 2018 in Ohio. Further details to be provided by family members.
