Bill Harvey, age 68, of Colora, MD passed away on September 7, 2013. Bill was born on August 1, 1945 in Richmond, VA to the late William D. and Madge A. (Taylor) Harvey.
Bill worked as a stockmaker and made a name for himself internationally as a maker of fine gunstocks. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and was a member of the 1st Infantry Division, The Black Lions. Bill was very active in the community and was a member of numerous organizations, including: West Nottingham Presbyterian Church, The Society of the First Infantry Division, VFW Post 7356 in Parkville, MO, American Legion Post 194 in Rising Sun, MD, The Military Order of the Purple Heart Cecil County Chapter 703, The Black Lions and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Ann Harvey of Colora, MD; daughters, Cynthia Harvey of Conowingo, MD and Rebecca Harvey of Wilmington, DE as well as his brother Michael Harvey of Englewood, CO.
A visitation will be held 6-8 PM on Friday September 13, 2013 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, located at 111 S. Queen St. Rising Sun, MD 21911. A service will be held Saturday September 14 at 11AM at West Nottingham Presbyterian Church, located at 1195 Firetower Road, Colora, MD 21917, where friends and family may arrive one hour prior. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made payable to either West Nottingham Presbyterian Church or the 1st Infantry Division Foundation Scholarship Fund and mailed to the funeral home.
