Betty M. Dugan, age 83 of Rising Sun, Maryland passed away February 27, 2016. Born on June 4, 1932 in Elkton, Maryland, she was the daughter to the late Otis R. Monger and Ethel M. (Hanna) Monger.
She was a 1949 graduate of Rising Sun High School and later attended Goldey Beacom College. She worked as a drive thru teller at the National Bank of Rising Sun and was a member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Many knew Betty as a constant nurturer and she shared unconditional love to all. She was known for her ease in frequent conversations even with total strangers. Her door was always open and all were welcome. Betty had a great sense of humor and was an exceptional cook. She was a beast at Chinese checkers and was a mail order queen. Later in life, her favorite thing was to play card games on her iPad. She adored her grandchildren and saw them as her pride and joy.
Betty is survived by her daughters: Dawn E. Dugan of Rising Sun, MD and Kimberly M. Johnson (Dale) of Rising Sun, MD; daughter-in-law, Deborah Dugan of Rising Sun, MD; three granddaughters: Nicole Dugan of Orlando, FL, Susan Penta (Mark) of Elkton, MD, and Kelly Rixham (Matt) of Rising Sun, MD; grandson, Christopher Johnson of Rising Sun, MD; five great-grandchildren; brother, James Monger of Rising Sun, MD; aunt, Louise Monger Jenkins of Allentown, PA; a special niece, who she loved like a daughter, Maureen Hamilton (Eddie) of North East, MD; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty is predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Kenneth R. Dugan; son, Joseph Dugan, Sr.; and grandson, Joseph R. Dugan, Jr.
A mass of Christian burial for Betty will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Agnes Church, 150 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A. 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. Burial to follow at Brookview Cemetery, Cemetery Lane, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
