Betty M. Boyle, 85, of Rising Sun MD, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024. Born in Oxford PA on November 16, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Doris Gambill Thomas of Zion.
Betty retired from The National Bank of Rising Sun where she was a teller and then banking officer. She was a former substitute teacher at Rising Sun High School and Rising Sun Middle School. She and her husband, Wendell, were founding members of Transport for Christ, a ministry to the trucking industry, and were active in that organization for many years. She was also a member of Grace Bible Chapel in Rising Sun.
She was a member of the original committee for Cecil County Farm Museum serving as treasurer. She was crowned Farm Queen at the Cecil County Fair in 1955.
She enjoyed her family and friends and traveling with Wendell on their many trips over the years.
Betty is survived by her children, Kathy Creese (Gary) of Rising Sun MD, and Kenneth Boyle (Patricia) of Palm Harbor FL; 5 grandchildren Peter Krentz, Kaye Fager, Kyle Boyle, Jaimee Creese, and Kaitlyn Jester and 11 great-grandchildren; and brother, Donald Thomas of Zion.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Wendell Boyle; sister, Carol Sue Parmer, and brother, Eugene Thomas, and her parents.
Graveside service will take place on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at West Nottingham Cemetery in Colora MD.
