Betty Jo “BJ” Haines, age 73, of Frankford, DE, passed away at home on Sunday, October 22, 2023. She was born on June 17, 1950 in Washington, DC to the late Squire Newton Bosworth and Doris Elizabeth (Simmons) Bosworth.

BJ worked for Chrysler in Newark, DE for thirty years before deciding to retire. She enjoyed being at the beach and going on cruises for vacations. BJ loved playing cards and slot machines. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

BJ is survived by her daughter, Shelly Murphy of Dagsboro, DE; sister, Mariam Louise Harriman (Derby) of West Suffield, CT; two nieces: Marlene Rusczyk of CT and Amy McLaughlin (Tom) of MA; and nephew, Wesley Lance Harriman (Kim) of NY.

In addition to her parents, BJ is preceded in death by her husband Hervey L. Haines.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921 where family and friends may begin visiting at 12:00PM. Burial will follow at Rosebank Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Delaware Hospice” and send in care of the funeral home.
