Betty Jean (Fisher) Welch, 85, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Heartland Hospice Care in Wilmington, DE.

Born on March 21, 1929 in Lower Macungie Township, Lehigh County, Pa. Betty was the daughter of the late Richard and Elsie (Reppert) Fisher.

Betty was proceeded in death by her husband Bob (Robert Millard), two brothers, Homer and Harrison Fisher; and two sisters, Elda (Fisher) Hoffman, and Mabel I. (Fisher) Tyson.

Betty is survived by her brother, Harvey Fisher, of St. Petersburg, FL, her brother in-law Edgar M. Tyson, of Reading PA, niece Margaret Conant and husband James of New Castle, De, nephew Richard D. Welch of Newark, De. her many friends, including Thomas & Sharon Macauley of North East, MD, Liz Jones of Newark De, and many nieces and nephews as well as many great nieces and great nephews throughout the USA.

Betty was a long time resident of Main Towers in Newark, she also lived in Newark, and in Wilmington, De. and Reading, Pa. Over the years, Betty was employed at the Borden Dairy, Cumberland Farms, Colton and College Square Dry Cleaners.

Betty’s passion was baking her delicious pound cake for any special occasion.

Betty volunteered with the New Born Intensive Care Unit at Christiana Care for their Preemie Christmas Parties.

Betty belonged to the Faith Lutheran Church of Bear De, where she enjoyed many fellowships with the church parishioners.

Betty will be deeply missed by her friends and family.

A memorial service for Betty will be held at 11:00am Thursday August 21, 2014 at Gracelawn Memorial Park Chapel, 2220 N. DuPont Highway New Castle, DE 19720. Friends and family may visit beginning at 10:00am. Burial will follow at the cemetery.
