Betty Irene White, 92, of Rising Sun, Maryland, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025. Born on July 8, 1932, in Elkton, Maryland, she was the beloved daughter of the late Morris and Frances (Bullock) McDonald and the devoted wife of the late Clarence Edward “Ed” White, who preceded her in death in 2011.
Betty was a hardworking and caring woman. Early in life, she was employed at the former sewing factory in Rising Sun. Alongside her husband, she co-owned and operated White’s Shell Service Station for many years—a familiar and welcoming spot in the community. Later, she continued to serve others through her work cleaning homes in the area.
At home, Betty was meticulous and deeply valued maintaining a warm and comfortable space. She had a special love for Pomeranians, raising and cherishing many over the years. Her most recent companion, Penny, remained faithfully by her side.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Edward White, and their son, Donald “Donnie” White.
Betty is lovingly remembered by her friends Brenda Maynard and Gail Yearick, as well as her cherished Pomeranian, Penny. Her kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering care for those around her will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Rosebank Cemetery, 966 Calvert Road, Rising Sun, Maryland.
