Betty Blanton Merritt, 89, of New Port Richey, FL, passed away on July 8, 2023. She was born in Baltimore, MD on October 17, 1933 to the late Frank Blanton and Martha (Thomas) Blanton.
Betty graduated from Elkton High School. She was an accomplished horse woman, with English riding style being her preferred choice and in her younger years she participated in fox hunting and many horse shows. Betty also volunteered for The CASA Association for children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, King Merritt, Jr. and her brother, Jim Blanton.
Betty is survived by her children, Lorraine Merritt and King Merritt, III; grandchildren, Brian Merritt (Jenifer), Adam Merritt (Sarah) and William Merritt (Praeiksha); great grandchildren, Oliver Blanton, Riker Blanton and Brody Blanton; niece, Linda Blanton; nephews, Jack Blanton and Jamie Blanton.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 11:00AM at the St. Augustine Cemetery, Route 310 & Mitten Road, Chesapeake City, MD 21915.
