Bernard “Bernie” F. Kaper, Jr., 71, of Chesapeake City, MD passed away Friday, April 8, 2016.

Born December 28, 1944 in Scranton, PA, Bernie was the son of the late Bernard F. Kaper Sr. and the late Nellie (Berpeisti) Kaper. He was also proceeded in death by his son Brandon F. Kaper. Bernie enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and hunting; his most cherished time was spent with his family and friends.

Bernie is survived by his wife, Geri Kaper; son, Bernard “Butch” F. Kaper, III and his wife, Pam; daughter, Therese G. Derivan and her husband, James; son, Andy Chytrenko and his wife, Kelly; six grandchildren, Jordan L. and Andrew M. Chytrenko, Samantha and McKenzie Derivan, and Ryan and Shaun Ganley. He is also survived by his sister, Diane Porter and his brother, Ronald Kaper and his wife, Charlene.

A service will be held at 11am Thursday, April 14, 2016 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 318 George St., Chesapeake City, MD 21915, where family and friends may visit at 10am. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.

I am in shock! I just found out that Bernie passed or I would have been at the services today. Bernie stopped at my house a few weeks ago - after quite a few years of not seeing him, I saw him twice in one week! Sending my condolences to the family. So sorry for your loss. ~ Jim "Woo" Welcher

Bernie has been our neighbor for many years and was always kind, and always ready to lend a hand anytime we asked. He will be missed.
