Barbara Marie Grotheer, 62, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on December 15, 2024. Born and raised in Long Island, New York, Barbara was the cherished daughter of the late Herbert Grotheer and Ann Grotheer (née Pfalzer).
Barbara was truly a “Jill of all trades.” With a remarkable work ethic and endless curiosity, she excelled in various roles throughout her life, including over 15 years of dedicated service at Home Depot. There was no challenge too great for Barbara; she approached every task with determination and creativity.
An avid maker and lifelong learner, Barbara found joy in activities such as crochet, crafting, woodwork and even the unique skill of shucking oysters. She had a profound love for the beach, where she spent countless hours appreciating the tranquility of the ocean. Dolphins and lighthouses held a special place in her heart, symbolizing her connection to the sea and its wonders.
Barbara’s vibrant spirit and boundless enthusiasm for life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Her kind and generous nature enriched the lives of her family and friends, who will deeply miss her presence.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by beloved partner, Gene Krebs. She is survived by her loving children, Clayton Harring and Emma Harring; her treasured granddaughter, Olive Marie Thomas; and a multitude of extended family members who will forever cherish her memory.
