Barbara L. Parker, 77, of Lakeland, FL, passed away peacefully Monday, February 17, 2014 after a short battle with cancer.
Born November 8, 1936 in London, England, Barbara was the daughter of the late Robert and Florence Wale. Barbara moved to the United States with her husband and children in 1971. Upon raising her beloved children, Barbara returned to her career as a secretary, dedicating 22 years of service to the University of Delaware. Upon retirement, she and her husband, Douglas moved to Lakeland, FL where she became an active member in her community. She was a member and secretary to a local tennis club and also participated in a bowling league. Though Barbara enjoyed being active in her community, she cherished the time spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Douglas Parker of Lakeland, FL; daughter, Suzanne Potts and her husband, Richard of Elkton, MD; sons, John Parker and his wife, Kathy of Elkton, MD and Michael Parker and his wife, Kelly of Lakeland, FL; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Ryan, Christopher, Adam, Emily, Andrew, and Casey; three great grandchildren, Joey, Ella, and Emma; sister, Jean Wale of Bournemouth, England; and her brother, Roger Wale also of Bournemouth, England.
A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, March 1, 2014 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 E. Main St., Elkton, MD 21921, where family and friends may visit beginning at 11AM.
