Barbara I. Maness, age 91 of Elkton, MD (formerly of Nottingham, PA) passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 15, 2018. Born October 27, 1927 in Poland, Barbara was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Blachowski.

Barbara was a woman who enjoyed the simple things in life. She liked to pass the time crocheting and watching family feud. She also enjoyed dancing. She cherished her time spent with her wonderful family and was particularly fond of family backyard BBQs.

Barbara is survived by her five children: Ute Gerlich and her husband, Bernhard, Charles Blachowski and his wife, Dagmar, Irene Meadows and her lifelong partner, Tom Moore, Valerie Johnson and Michelle O’Dell and her husband, Randy; eight grandchildren: Oliver, Claudia, Tonya, Tammy, Johanna, James, Ashley and Sadie; eight great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. Including her parents, Barbara was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, John Johnson; two brothers: George and Bernhard and two sisters: Renate and Johanna.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Monday, November 19, 2018 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911, where family and friends may visit beginning at 1pm.
