Barbara Ann Frehafer, age 80 of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on June 8, 2021. She was born on February 19, 1941 in Chester, PA to the late Wilbert Thorpe and Gertrude (Ferguson) Thorpe.
Barbara was loving and giving. She was highly skilled with crochet hooks and made dolls, blankets and other gifts for family and friends. Her hands were rarely still. Her heart and her home were open to everyone and anyone. She was always the first to offer help to others in need.
She was genuine to a fault, sweet and caring; and yet she sugar coated nothing. She always told you the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. Although she had no children of her own, there were many who considered her a surrogate mother; all of whom loved her dearly and will never forget her tenacity, humor, grace and undying love and caring for them.
Barbara is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 60 years, Schuyler (Butch) Frehafer; nieces: Dawn Bigney and her husband, James; and Robyn Callaway and her husband, Scott; great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews, many cousins; and many special friends. She is also survived by her beloved pets, Brianna and Sierra.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph; and her niece, Holly Mariani.
Barbara will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
