Audrey Rumer Butler died December 6, 2013 at the Willow Valley Retirement Community in Lancaster, PA, where she had lived since 1994. She was raised and lived in Newark, DE for many years. Audrey was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Sherwood Rumer of Newark.

After attending Wesley Jr. College in Dover, DE, she went to work at the University of Delaware as Secretary to the Dean of Women. She also worked for the Newark School District as Administrative Assistant to the Director of Communications and later, for the DuPont Co. in the Engineering Department at Louvier’s.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Millersville, PA.

Mrs. Butler was survived by three daughters, Ms. Eleanor Perkins of Dover, DE, Mrs. Dorothy Myers and husband Roger of Chantilly, VA and Mrs. Janet Lally and husband Ned of Holderness, NH; sister-in-law, Janet Rumer of Lancaster, PA; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeanne Joyce; her husband, Robert D. Butler and her brother, Donald S. Rumer.

A celebration of Audrey’s life will be held at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911 on Saturday April 12, 2014 at 12 noon with a visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. To send condolences visit www.rtfoard.com.
