Audrey (Monk) Gerst, 77, of Colora, MD, went home to be with the Lord March 27, 2015, at her home with her family at her side.
Born on March 24, 1938, Audrey was the daughter of the late Oliver and Gladys Monk. Audrey grew up in Kingsville and graduated from Parkville High School in 1956. Receiving Christ as her Savior in June of 1955, she was a member of Emmorton Baptist Church. In 2005, she moved to Colora, MD to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. There she attended Porters Grove Baptist Church. She loved her church family dearly and they returned the love to her.
Audrey enjoyed gardening and bird watching but her first love was caring for her family and others, and she would go out of her way to do so. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Audrey leaves behind her precious daughter, Donna Hellems, her son-in-law Todd, her grandchildren Donald and Joe Rosenthal, Todd Hellems, Jr. and Matthew, Stephanie and Jessica Hellems; and her great grandchildren Nathaniel and Olivia Rosenthal. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald H. Gerst, her sister Dorothy Downer and her great granddaughter Bailey Rosenthal.
A visitation will be held at Porters Grove Baptist Church on Tuesday March 31, 2015 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm with services at the church on Wednesday April 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Bel Air Memorial Gardens.
