Arthur E. Hardt, 99, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully June 26, 2013 at Arbors at New Castle.

Born in Falling Waters, WV on June 24, 1914, Arthur was the son of the late Howard and Lucy Hardt. A graduate of Central Bible Institute, Arthur was a pastor at numerous churches for 50 years. The family is most grateful to the staff at Arbors for their care and compassion during his stay.

Arthur is survived by two daughters, Sandra Patton (Robert) of Newark and Carol Brown of Long Neck, DE; two sons, Arthur E. Hardt (Faye) of New Castle and John Hardt (Patricia) of Bear; five grandchildren, Brenda Yates, Susan Borcherding, Arthur Hardt, III, Jennifer Burchard and Kristen Hardt; three great grandchildren; and a brother Raymond Hardt (Carolyn); two sisters, Peggy Hoover and Marie Firestone (Merle). He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Nancy Hardt.

A service honoring his life will be held at Gracelawn Memorial Park Chapel, 2220 N. DuPont Pkwy, New Castle, DE 19720 on Monday July 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation at the chapel beginning at 10 am. Burial will follow at the cemetery.

Pastor Hardt was running the non-denominational church in Ogletown Delaware back in 1981. He married us at that church, which no longer stands. He was a kind and caring man and we often speak of him and our story of life. We just learned of his passing and will always remember him for his kindness and faith.

To All of Pastor Hardt's family, I extend my deepest sympathy for your loss. He was a great man of faith and fought a good fight of faith! I just found out today, 7-12-13 of his passing or I would have been to the service on 7/1/13. May our precious Lord grant you all comfort knowing he is in a much better place. Love and prayers, June
