My entire life is full of memories of Aretta. The back and forth borrowing of cooking ingredients that taught me how to look both ways before crossing the road between our houses. Teaching my children and my grandson James the same lesson when we went next door to see Aretta. She was a sweet, caring, wonderful woman that we all will miss so much.

I'm going to miss you Nana. You were always the one that would help with anything & everything you could. You always put a smile on my face (even when you gave me that sandwich with just an onion in it.. I still ate it.) I remember when you taught me how to ride a bike & you told me to make a "figure 8"... I think I did that for about 2 hours. I remember when Justin & I got the bus for school at your house for a week & I didn't want to go to school one day, so I told you I had the mumps.. You obviously knew I didn't. I'm going to miss all of those late nights & ringing the bell for New Years. You will be dearly missed. I'll be seeing you. I love you, Nana.

I am so sorry to hear about Aunt Retta. She was loved and cherished by all who were lucky enough to know her. What a lovely lady. Aunt Retta, thank you for all of the lovely memories. God Bless.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Mrs. Frock (as I knew her then) was my kindergarten aide back around 1975 and one of my earliest memories of Calvert Elementary School and Moore's Chapel UMC. What a sweet, sweet lady she was. She then became my grandmother's roomie at Calvert Manor, so I was able to visit with her then, too. God bless your family in your time of loss.

Dear Family, It is with a great deal of sadness that I write this note to you. As many of you know, she was my K aide for several years while I was at Calvert. It really should have been the other way around especially in the beginning when I had never taught K before and only older children. Aretta had the patience of a saint with my lack of inexperience with these little ones. I have just finished my 33rd year of teaching K/1 and still to this day use her thoughts and sayings with children. I think of her often especially at the beginning of the year when I go over procedures and what she taught me. Her skills and insights were amazing and I was the fortunate one when they hired me to work with her! She brought me a tremendous amount of joy. She was a lifesaver more times than I can count and what began as a professional relationship soon moved into a dear, dear friendship as Aretta took me under her wing. I am so blessed to have had her be apart of my life. We kept in touch over all these years. Her children and grandchildren's names still come to my mind easily after all this time as she shared her stories with me. There are many people she has touched in her lifetime and I am so grateful she was a part of my life. What a remarkable lady! Love Lisa Eline
