Anthony Gottardo Salemi, Jr., “Tony,” 68, of Bel Air, MD, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 5, 2017. Born on August 17, 1948 in Chester, PA, he was the son of the late Gottardo Anthony and Santa Marie (Lupinetti) Salemi. Anthony was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Anne Rossiter.
Anthony worked various jobs throughout his life. He worked at Future Ford detailing cars, at Peach Bottom Atomic Power Plant, at MTA as a Hatem Bridge Toll Collector, and was a postal worker for the United States Postal Service. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. He was an avid sports photographer for the Baltimore Blast and also did many family portraits for some of the players. He enjoyed concerts and has seen many different rock groups through the years. Anthony loved Iron Birds baseball, Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Phillies, his black Labrador, Blackie, and his Bichon, Peppi.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Deborah E. Salemi of Bel Air, MD; daughter, Sharon Maria Moore of Bel Air, MD; step-daughter, Amy Gilbert and her husband, Michael, of Rising Sun, MD; and three grandchildren: Lauren and Jonathan Gilbert and Lilith (Lily) Moore; two nieces and one nephew.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Pleasant View Baptist Church, 150 Downin Lane, Port Deposit, MD 21904, with a visitation beginning at 10AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Pleasant View Baptist Church” and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., PO Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
