Anthony Charles Taormina, age 92, of Conowingo, Maryland, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 14, 2024. He was born on February 1, 1932, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Carmelo C. Taormina and Serina (Patrignani) Taormina.
Anthony was a proud veteran, serving in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955, stationed in England. Following his military service, Anthony worked as a steelworker in the steel mill industry. His love for woodworking, showed in his crafting of beautiful bowls. In his free time, Anthony enjoyed collecting items from newspapers and reading them weekly. He was an avid scrapbooker, cutting out comic strips and preserving cherished memories for future generations to enjoy. Anthony’s love for Frank Sinatra’s music was evident in his spirited singing of the legendary singer’s songs. He was an active supporter of women’s rights, Anthony marched for equality and justice.
Known for his talkative nature and social demeanor, Anthony had a gift for getting along with everyone and making friends wherever he went. He was a storyteller at heart, enjoying telling tales of his life experiences and adventures. Anthony’s greatest passion was his family and his love for his wife.
Anthony is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rita Mary Taormina; his children: Tony Michael Taormina (Debbie), and Linda Cortes (fiancé, Mark Grubb); grandchildren: Brandon Taormina, Leanna Burnett, Chelsea Cortes, and Tiffany Wright.
