Annette Joan Torre, age 92, of Wilmington, DE passed away February 27, 2019. She was born January 5, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Charles and Mildred Rosa.
Annette was devoted to her family. During her professional career she practiced as a beautician. Annette loved knitting and crocheting. She also loved music and was a chorus singer. Annette used to love vacationing in Oyster Bay and had the privilege of meeting the Roosevelt family there.
Annette is survived by her daughter Diane Schimpf and her husband Warren of Elkton, MD; grandson, Christopher Schimpf and his partner Brian Smith of New York, NY; grandson, Daniel Schimpf and his wife Jennifer of Townsend, DE; great grandson, Dylan Schimpf; and godchild, Susan Reckling. In addition to her parents, Annette is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Torre.
Annette’s family would like to sincerely thank her caregivers at Somerford House and Place the past 6 years and the staff of Vitas Hospice, all of whom showed Annette much love, compassion, and dignity.
A celebration of Annette’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 318 George Street, Chesapeake City, MD 21915. Family and friends may begin to visit on Thursday starting at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow the service at Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701.
