Ann Miller Lawrence, age 93, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026. Born in Wilmington, Delaware on January 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Miller and Edna (née Hitch) Miller, and the devoted wife of the late Norman Lawrence, who preceded her in death in 1984.
Ann was a proud graduate of Wilmington High School and went on to pursue her calling in nursing at Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1953. She worked as a registered nurse in Labor and Delivery at Memorial Hospital, where she compassionately cared for countless mothers and newborns. After starting her family, Ann was grateful for the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mother for many years, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to raising her children. Later in life, she returned to the nursing profession, continuing her service as an RN in private doctors’ offices.
Ann lived a full and active life. She was a past member of the Newark Country Club, where she found great joy on the golf course. In her younger years, she was a member of the Blue Hen bowling league. She had a true passion for watching figure skating as well as the Winter and Summer Olympics and that continued throughout her lifetime. A devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan, Ann rarely missed a game. She also loved music—listening to it, dancing to it, and sharing that joy with others.
Above all, Ann will be remembered for her gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put her loved ones first, offering quiet strength, compassion, and unconditional love to all who knew her.
Ann is survived by her loving children: Michael Lawrence and his wife, Mary, Steven Lawrence and his wife Lynn, and Holly Angulo and her husband David; her cherished grandchildren: Nickolas Lawrence (Lindsay), Stefanie Byrne (Matthew), Kimberly Hunt (Alex), Kasey Shaw (Jeremy), Ashley Theobald (Jeremy), J.B. Beal (Taylor), and David Angulo (Nina); and her beloved great-grandchildren: Stella, Reese, Kinley, Bryson, Rowyn, Maddox, Costa, Stetson, Josephina, Leo, Kendall, Rylee, Madison, Joshua, Colton, Kellan, and David Leo, along with extended family members and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Newark, 292 Main Street, Newark, Delaware. Family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 AM. A private family Inurnment will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
