Ann Marie Minner, age 70, of Newport, DE passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2025. She was born on December 2, 1954, in Wilkes Barre, PA to the late A. Michael McNelis, and Julliet Mary (Walsh) McNelis.
Ann was a hard worker and a fighter, always showing strength in the face of adversity. She devoted herself to her family, and cherished her two cats, Sparky and Patches. An avid animal lover, Ann had a special fondness for stray cats, taking care of these furry friends. Ann’s loyalty and kindness were palpable, and she embraced life with a sense of humor and a generous heart.
Ann had a passion for football, she was a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan and could often be found cheering for her team with enthusiasm. She also enjoyed spending time fishing, watching game shows and crime shows like “Law and Order.”
Her love for the holidays was infectious, with Halloween being her favorite time of year. She delighted in decorating her home and baking delicious treats for family and friends, especially cupcakes, cookies, and cakes that brought joy to many.
A frequent visitor to The Dollar Store, Ann found happiness in the little things, whether it was new decoration or finding odd items. Her love for music was equally broad, spanning all genres but especially Mo-Town, with artists like Tina Turner and Diana Ross and the Supremes holding a special place in her heart.
Ann was also a dedicated member of Holy Angels Church, where she actively participated in her community. Her desire to help others was evident in all that she did; she was always ready to lend a hand or support a friend in need.
Ann’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved her and were inspired by her unwavering strength, resilience and kindness.
In addition to her parents, Ann is preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Ann Minner; and brother, Michael McNelis.
Ann is survived by her son, Frank Minner; sister, Patricia McNelis; granddaughters: Hailee Minner, and Chloe Dickens; nephews: Kevin McNelis, and Robert McNelis; niece, Michele McNelis; great-nephew, Ryan Dubois; and sister-in-law, Rose Tarleton.
A celebration of Ann’s life will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 12:00 pm at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE, where family and friends may begin visiting at 11:00 am.
