Ann Chase of Oxford, PA, age 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Ware Presbyterian Village. She was born on January 31, 1932 in Boston, MA to the late Fred M. Burton and Winifred C. (Greene) Burton.
Ann was a faithful member of the Jehovah Witnesses and attended the Kingdom Hall in Chatham, PA and Farmington, ME for over 40 years. Maine was her favorite place to be, where she enjoyed her time out of doors, often going hiking, cross country skiing, and canoeing. Ann also enjoyed sailing, both for fun and competitive regatta racing in Cape Cod. She loved to spend time in her gardens, both flower and vegetable, and would can her home grown vegetables with her daughter, Carol. Ann continued her love of gardening when she retired to PA in 2005. Her most cherished time was spent with her family, taking walks, sharing meals or playing games.
Ann was a gentle, kind and loving person who was quick to extend her help and support to others in their time of need. When Ann moved to Ware Presbyterian Village, she assisted the other residents and shared her love of gardening by tending a small flower garden that all the residents and staff enjoyed.
Ann is survived by five children: Susan K. Crossan (Cleve) of Oxford, PA, Jennifer G. Chase of Landenberg, PA, Richard A. Chase (Melanie) of Lincoln University, PA, William B. Chase (Diane) of Landenberg, PA, and Carol A. Chase (David Tracy) of Wilton, ME; five grandchildren: Charlene Chandler, Sean M. Chase, Brooke B. Chase, Brittany K. Chase and Aubrey A. Chase; three great-grandchildren: Kaelin Chandler, Madison Chandler and Kali Ash: and a brother, Richard G. Burton (Nancy) of Wilmington, NC.
In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Allen K. Chase; son, Timothy T. Chase; and two grandchildren: Kimberly M. Wentzel and Christopher P. Wentzel.
A memorial talk and slide presentation will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Kingdom of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3470 Gap Newport Pike, West Grove, PA 19390.
