Amos Campbell Jaquette, Jr., age 84, of Silver Spring, MD, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Amos was born on February 26, 1941, in Philadelphia, PA to the late Amos Campbell Jaquette, Sr., and Georgianna (Kimble) Jaquette.
Amos, a proud graduate of the University of Delaware, had a career in service to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Amos found joy in the simple pleasures of sports and cheering on his teams, especially Delaware’s football program. Go Blue Hens!
At Newark High School he was a renowned hitter and strong pitcher. He could be found at the golf course, where he cherished both the game and the camaraderie of other golfers. A loyal sports fan through and through, he eagerly followed his beloved Philadelphia Phillies, 76ers, and Eagles, celebrating and standing by them through many a long season.
He will be remembered for his warmth, his passions, and the steadfast loyalty he showed to the people and the teams he loved. Amos’s presence left a lasting imprint on all who knew him, and his memory will be held dearly in the hearts of family and friends.
Amos is survived by his sister, Alice Daugherty and her husband, Terry; nieces: Laura Jaquette, Kristin Jaquette, and Megan Underdown; nephews: George Jaquette, David Jaquette, and Hank Daugherty; grandniece, Ava Saskia Daugherty; and former spouse and longtime friend, Florence Dillon. In addition to his parents, Amos is preceded in death by his brothers: David Robert Jaquette and George Kimble Jaquette; and his niece, Georgianna Daugherty.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 11:00AM at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 West Main Street Newark, DE 19711, where friends and family may begin visiting at 10:00AM. A burial will follow at Head of Christiana Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the Alzheimer’s Association and sent in care of R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc.
