Alyce Ann Newman, age 82, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 25, 2012 at Heartland House Hospice surrounded by her family.
Born in Federalsburg, MD on February 21, 1930, she was the only child of Elizabeth Adams Galusha and Alton Smith. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, step father, Paul Galusha and ex-husband, David W. Newman. Alyce is survived her daughters, Holly Newman and Tracy Dale; sons, Mark Newman and David Newman; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Alyce worked many years in the restaurant industry. Her hobbies included making jewelry, practical jokes and a good funny story. She enjoyed life to the fullest and always laughed and had a smile on her face.
The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice House and Manor Care Pike Creek for the wonderful care given to Alyce.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the R.T. Foard and Jones, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711, where friends and family may call one hour prior. Burial will be on Monday, July 2, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Hockessin Friends Cemetery, 1500 Old Wilmington Road, Wilmington, DE. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or Heartland Hospice House, c/o the funeral home.
