Alvin Daniel Stoltzfus, 92, passed away in his home the morning of April 12, 2025. He was born May 22, 1932, to the late Harry and Melinda (Smoker) Stoltzfus.
As a young man, Alvin served in the US Airforce as an aircraft mechanic. He brought those skills to civilian life as a sheet metal mechanic. He was a dedicated employee, working for All American Engineering and stayed employed after a corporate buyout by Boeing-Vertol. Rarely ever missing a day of work, he regularly worked overtime on Saturdays. At one point in his career, he worked on air craft carrier cable arresting (stopping) systems. He stayed active throughout his life; regularly working out, going for walks, and riding bikes. He enjoyed travelling and exploring new destinations. Though he still found enjoyment in the simple things like gardening, making his own tools, and bowling. He deeply cherished his family; seldom missing any of their gatherings like the Stoltzfus family reunions, churning homemade ice cream, monthly outings to local restaurants, and other family celebrations.
Alvin is survived by his longtime companion: Dorothy Darnell; his children: Debbie George, Danny Stoltzfus (Debbie); Yvonne Longo (Tony), Ruth Agnew (Jeff); and Linda Murray (Mark); his grandchildren: Blake Agnew, Blair Agnew, Brayden Murray, and Emily Murray; and many cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his sister: Lucille Umland; and his brother: Glen Stoltzfus.
A celebration of Alvin’s life will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921. Family will be welcoming guests starting at 10:00 a.m. for visitation. A procession will follow to Bel Air Memorial Gardens for his burial.
