Alta Lanta Mink (87) of Elkton, MD passed away on September 18, 2021. She was born in Marion, VA on April 2, 1934 to the late Rev. Robert and Clara (Weaver) Sturgill.

Alta was a creative and artistic woman. She had a talent for drawing, writing, baking and playing the piano. She made beautifully handcrafted Birthday and Christmas cards for family and friends to enjoy. Alta also volunteered her time to make Teddy Bears to comfort the patients at Season’s Hospice. Alta was a Master Baker. Her Pound Cake Recipe once won the “Blue Ribbon” at the Cecil County Fair. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Alta is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Harold Rhudy Mink; Daughter, Colleen Denise Ellis and her husband Thomas of Elkton, MD, Son, Harold Robert Mink of Elkton, MD, Granddaughter, Jennifer Christine Jones and husband Mikell, Two Grandsons: Paul Rhudy Ellis and wife Laura and Joseph Mark Ellis; Three Great-granddaughters, McKenzie Grace, Kailyn Averie, Alta Jane; Great-grandson, Hudson Mark.

In addition to her mother and father, Alta is preceded in death by Three Brothers: Lacy H. Sturgill, Robert Joel Sturgill, Jr., Carmen Lee Sturgill; Two Sisters, Mary Catherine Riggs and Grace Lorraine Fisher.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021, from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at RT Foard Funeral Home – Elkton, 259 E. Main Street, Elkton, MD, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in Gilpin Manor Memorial Gardens.
