Allie Bogie Welch, age 100 of Dover, DE went home to be with the Lord on January 19, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 27, 1921 in Crab Orchard, KY to the late William Whitley Montgomery and Susie Mae (Bogie) Montgomery.
She married the love of her life, James Henry Welch on April 17, 1942 and resided in AL before moving to DE. They lived in Newark for 62 years. Allie raised their three daughters and took care of their home, working on their farm and canning the vegetables that her husband grew. Allie was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Glasgow, DE where she served on several committees. She enjoyed playing cards, going antiquing, Bingo, but most of all spending time with her family.
Allie is survived by her daughters: Wanda Welch of Hockessin, DE, Jean Galvin (Cliff) of Dover, DE, and Delores Seaward (Bob) of Smyrna, DE; granddaughter Terri DiSanto of Newark, DE; and great granddaughter, Amber DiSanto of Newark, DE.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James Henry Welch of Newark, DE; brother, William “Pip” Montgomery of KY; sisters: Hattie Jane Grimes of KY and Dorothy June Howard of KY; and stepson, David Lee Welch of CA.
A Celebration of Allie’s life will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 12PM at R.T. Foard and Jones, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. Family and friends may attend the viewing beginning at 11AM. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “MOSAIC” and sent in care of the funeral home.
