Allan L. Allsworth, age 81, of Rio Grande, NJ and formerly of Elkton, MD, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014 at his residence in Rio Grande, NJ. He was born on June 14, 1932 in Pawtucket, RI to the late Edward L. and Margaret (Gibbons) Allsworth.
Allan served four years in the U.S. Navy and transferred over to the U.S. Air Force where he served for over 20 years before his retirement in 1973. Upon his retirement, he attended Wesley College where he earned a degree in Nursing. He then worked at some of the Veteran Hospitals in the area including the ones in Elsmere, DE and Philadelphia, PA.
He is survived by his wife Alice of Rio Grande, NJ; his daughters Susan Allworth of New Castle, DE, Melissa Waddell of Rising Sun, MD, and M. Sally Allsworth of Elkton, MD; grandchildren, Clifford Peterson, and Cory Peterson; and a sister Madonna Thornley of Pawtucket, RI.
He is predeceased by his grandson Zachary Waddell.
