








Alice L. Martin Hickey, 84, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away peacefully January 6, 2013 at Lancaster Hospice and Community Care, surrounded by her family.
Born in Perry Point, MD on December 22, 1928, Alice was the daughter of the late Roger Stephen and Mary Margaret Ebner Martin. In addition to raising a family, Alice devoted her life to Janes United Methodist Church, serving on various committees, organizations and was the church secretary for nearly 30 years. She was an integral part of the Gathering Place group and the church quilting group. Alice was also a Registered Nurse, enjoyed the beach and was an avid reader. The center of her life was her family and her church community.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon H. Church and her husband Mike of Peach Bottom, PA and her son, Stephen M. Hickey and his wife Betty of Port Deposit; her brother, Charles L. Martin of Elkton; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Charles A. “Chuck” Hickey; her sons, Charles, Jr., and David F. Hickey; her brother Ebner Roger Martin and her sister Margaret Frances Bell.
A service celebrating her life will be held at Janes United Methodist Church, 213 N. Walnut St., Rising Sun, MD 21911 on Saturday January 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family may call at the church beginning at 1 pm. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Janes United Methodist Church Building Fund or Amedysis Hospice c/o R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., PO Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
