Alice J. Tarr, age 67, of Elkton, MD, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013.
Alice was born April 6, 1946 in Ithaca, NY to Howard and Mary (Schoolfield) Jennings. Alice was a substitute teacher for Cecil County Public Schools, she counseled head injury patients at the Hartfeld House in PA, and she was the director of the Settlement House for approximately ten years in Elkton, MD. Recently, Alice was employed at the Cecil County Health Department and taught G.E.D. classes at the Cecil Community College. She was a member of Rock Presbyterian Church where she was an officer and active with various committees. Alice was a friendly and caring person who loved her dogs and animals of all kinds.
Alice is survived by her two sons, Dave Tarr and his wife, Ronnie of Cheltenham, MD and Steven M. Tarr and his wife, Dawn of Abilene, KS; and three grandchildren, Nicki, Brandon, and Sierra Tarr.
A visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 E. Main St., Elkton, MD 21921. A service honoring Alice’s life will be held at 11am Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Rock Presbyterian Church, on the corner of Route 273 and Rock Church Road, Elkton, MD 21921, where family and friends may call beginning at 10am. Burial will follow in Sharps Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society c/o the funeral home.
