Agnes T. Scotton (Nancy Taylor) of Newark, Delaware passed away surrounded by love on Sunday, March 30, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Rollo L. and Clara R. Taylor. She was predeceased by her loving husband, James L., her son Stephen T. and grandson Stephen R, and sister Mary Jane and brother-in-law Arthur Codding.
She is survived by her two remaining children James L. Scotton, III (Janice Laine) of Landenberg, PA and Christina S. Dhar of Newark, DE as well as six grandchildren, Melissa L. Scotton (Michael K. Louie), Sara Scotton, and Daniel J. Scotton, Michael L. Peters (Gina), Stephanie C. Adams (Alex), and Rachel M. Dhar. Also surviving are her seven great grandchildren, Isabella Rose, and Mikey Peters, Rhyan, Dean, Charlotte, and Samantha Adams, Rivers M. L. Louie, and her daughter-in-law Julie S. Scotton, and her cousin Edwin “Ted” Nutter.
She had a gift for story telling and loved reminiscing about her childhood on the farm across from Winterthur, especially her time with the cows. Her grandchildren and greats never tired of hearing her stories. She later moved to Newark, where she graduated from the University of Delaware and married her high school sweetheart. Summers were spent at her happy place, Long Beach Island, where she made the best memories with her family at her beach house. She had a passion for painting and traveling extensively through the United States with her husband. She and her husband spent many afternoons at Battery Park in New Castle talking with the town’s people and learning about its history. Her greatest love was her family and found joy in all their accomplishments.
Funeral arrangements are private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made payable to the “American Heart Association”, “Alzheimer’s Association”, or the “American Diabetes Association” send in care of R.T.
