William Wayne Wyatt Sr., age 83, of Elkton, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on November 4, 2025.
Born in Greensboro, Maryland, Wayne was the son of the late William and Catherine (Whitby) Wyatt. He was a proud graduate of Claymont High School, Class of 1960, and went on to serve his country honorably as a Sergeant in the Delaware Army National Guard from 1960 to 1968.
On October 26, 1963, Wayne married the love of his life, Edna (Eaton) Wyatt, beginning a beautiful journey of 63 years together. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, partnership, and devotion.
Wayne built a respected career as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry, working for Dabson Paving Company and RC Peoples. Later in life he moved on to less physical jobs and enjoyed working for H&B Plumbing, Brosias and Elias Lumber Company and Fair Hill race track.
Wayne was a fun-loving spirit and something of a daredevil, sometimes to his own detriment. Whether it was performing flips, daring dives, or even hopping on a skateboard, Wayne embraced life with enthusiasm and a fearless streak. His adventurous nature often led to bumps and bruises, but it also brought laughter, unforgettable memories, and stories that will be retold for generations.
On family beach trips, Wayne never spent much time on the sand—he had more important tasks. As the “Crane Master,” he was on a mission: winning stuffed animals for his grandchildren from claw machines. With his steady hand and unwavering determination, stuffed animals were no match for him. By the end of each trip, every grandchild had their requested prize in hand, a tradition that became one of the most cherished parts of their vacations.
Wayne loved capturing the beauty of nature through photography. He was rarely seen without his camera, always ready to document life’s moments, big or small. He was also a devoted NASCAR fan and enjoyed computer games, often found at his desk building his virtual café or farm.
A talented dancer, Wayne and Edna were known for lighting up the dance floor with the jitterbug at family gatherings—bringing joy to all who watched.
Wayne’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and a life lived to the fullest. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
