Thomas “Tom” Andrew Bergendahl

February 9, 1932 - December 5, 2020

He attended Tarleton State College and the University of Minnesota. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army; and of the U.S. Army Signal Corps, where he acted as a communications instructor.

Tom was an elected member of the Harvard MA School Committee for six years; a member of: the Troop 1 Harvard Scout Committee, of the Nashua Valley Scout Committee; of the Harvard Lions Club; and of the Scandinavian Stamp Collectors Club. He was a founding member and past president of the Lincroft, NJ First Aid Squad and traveled a steward for Northwest Airlines.

Tom was an avid fisherman and stamp collector; and had a life-long passion for the study of history. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and with friends. Tom will be dearly missed.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Betty C. Bergendahl, and by his three children: Paul J. Bergendahl II; Leslie C. Hardy and her husband, Jay; and by Kerri A. Donecker; by six grandchildren: Sophie and William Bergendahl; Kathryn and Andrew Hardy; and, by Caroline and Gabrielle Donecker; and, by two great-grandchildren: Khalil and Malakai Jones. He is also survived by his loving sister, Joyce A. Beytien and her husband, Spencer; and by his two nieces: Lisa Beytien-Carlson and Beth Beytien.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

We lived across the street from Tom and Betty for 17 years. We got to know them very well and tried to be good neighbors. We loved to hear Tom`s stories about life in MA and elsewhere. He was also trying to teach us about stamp collecting but we were not the best students. Tom will be missed in the neighborhood.
