Thomas A. Reed, Sr., age 62, of Newark, DE, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 at his home in Newark. He was born November 12, 1951 in Wilmington, DE to the late John Reed, Sr. and Emma (Bush) Reed.
A lifelong resident of the Newark area, Thomas was a graduate of Christiana H.S. and worked at General Motors from which he retired. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Tom also liked riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and pitching horseshoes.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas A. Reed and wife Dawn of Newark, DE, Raymond J. Reed and wife Kim of Newark, DE, Michael E. Kieffer, Jr. and wife Brandy of Newark, DE, John A. Hanna of Bear, DE, and Chris Kieffer of PA; daughters Stacie Kieffer of PA, and Debbie Cheeseman and husband Lenard of North East, MD; brothers James Reed and wife Jean of Georgetown, DE, Donald Reed and wife Terry of Newark, DE, and Clyde Reed and wife Andrea of Hartley, DE; sisters Emma Robinson and husband Clarence of Middletown, DE and Louanne Clabough and husband Skip of Middletown, DE; and seven grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Sharon Reed, and brother Johnny Reed.
A service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at R.T. Foard & Jones F.H., 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711. Friends and family may visit 6-8 PM on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at the funeral home and again on Wednesday 1 hour prior to the service. Burial to follow at Newark Cemetery.
