Stephen Joseph Schmidt, age 83, of Newark, DE, passed away on July 16. 2025. On May 15, 1942, Stephen was born in Wilmington, DE to the late Jospeh Schmidt and Eileen (Comerford) Schmidt.
Stephen was a man known for his many hobbies like collecting guns and knives. He enjoyed bow hunting and taking photographs any chance he had. Stephen always thought of himself as an excellent chef, whether it was in the kitchen or on the grille, but his family begs to differ. He was always eager to learn new things, especially if it kept his current with the times. Stephen will be missed by all who knew him.
Stephen is survived by his children; Alise Lindsay, Debra Schmidt, Bonnie Schmidt, Michelle Carkin-Calder, and Clifton Carkin, Jr.; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Diane Lips. In addition to his parents, Stephen is proceeded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Schmidt; daughter, Robin Blythe; and brothers: Jeff Schmidt and Bob Schmidt.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 11:00AM at All Saints Cemetery.
