Russell Dale Zuendel, age 87 of Newark, DE passed away on October 28, 2025. He was born on November 12, 1937 in Starr, PA to the late Roy William Zuendel and Mabel Marie (Thompson) Zuendel.

Russell grew up in Tionesta, PA where he found great joy in being in the outdoors. He enjoyed deer hunting and cooking for his friends at the campgrounds. He attended the Lutheran Church with his family when he was younger. Later in life, he proudly served in the US Navy where he retired after 20 years. Russell was a member of the VFW Post 7234 in Ocean View, DE since 2005 and a member of the American Legion Post 10 in Newark, DE for 40 years.

Russell is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean Zuendel; children: Wayne Zuendel, Steven MacIsaac (Linda), Robyne Zuendel, Valerie Geiss (Michael), and Raymond Zuendel; grandchildren: Chad Carufel (Caitlin), Christopher MacIsaac (Dawn), Heather MacIsaac, Michael Geiss, Jr. (Kori), and Austin Geiss (Libby); and great grandchildren: Steven MacIsaac, II, Luna MacIsaac, Riley Carufel, and Kendall Lovins.

He is preceded in death by his siblings: John, Jack, Bill, Elinor, Donald, Dorothy, Raymond, and Forest.

A celebration of Russell’s life will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc. 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. Family and friends may attend the visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. A private burial will be held in the future at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “Faithful Friends” and send in care of the funeral home.
