Rose A. Sands age 77, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, after a long illness, with her friend Tracy by her side. Born in Philadelphia, PA, on October 15, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Beneta Sands.

Ms. Sands graduated from La Salle University, in Philadelphia, PA with a BA, additionally she graduated From MD University, in Scranton, PA, with a Master of Social Work.

Ms. Sands enjoyed playing softball for her community league and was an active participant in many all-star games. She also played softball in her college years. Later on, she enjoyed traveling extensively.

Ms. Sands worked for the state of MD, as a social worker for approximately 30 years. After retiring she continued to care for her elderly family members for many years. Which included her mother and uncle, taking them to various appointments and outings.

She is survived by her brother Dennis Sands (Lynda). Along with several nieces & nephews. In addition to her own family, she is also survived by her adopted family, the Jones’ her good friend and caregiver Tracy, her husband Cliff and their son Max.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her siblings Richard Sands and Carol Sands.

A service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, 120 Allison Rd, Oreland, PA 19075. The family will begin receiving friends at 11:00 AM, Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA.
