I just saw Chantel's message posted in May on Gtalk a couple of days ago because I have to use VPN to access Gtalk in China. I was shocked too much by such a bad news to believe it. When I woke up from the shock I was buried by my deep sorrow. I had been quite busy for most of time when I was back in China. I had thought I would see him again one day. I have never expected such a thing happened. It is a big loss for both his family and his friend like me. I will miss him immensely. May God bless him and may he rest in eternal peace.

This is to the family of Ron Smith. I JUST found out tonight about Ron's death through Jim Schneckenberger. I was very saddened to hear this and it was quite a shock! I had JUST been thinking about Ron the other night. He and I had some good times together. To Ron's family: Please accept my sympathy for your loss. Ron was a nice guy and loved to laugh. He and I dated for about a year back in 2007 and we also were engaged for a brief time. He always had a great smile on his face and he had a great sense of humor. He also had accepted Jesus as his savior, he loved the Lord and he taught me a few things about God and learning to totally trust God for all things. The last time I saw Ron was in Lowe's in North East about a year and a half ago and he was very kind to me. (sometimes if you engaged to someone and it didn't work out, that person doesn't always remain friendly with you, but not Ron. He was very pleasant and spoke very nicely to me!) He and I had a bit of a rocky relationship(all of my relationships were rocky at the time when I met Ron as I was going through bad time period in my life) yet when I look back I know he was someone who was placed into my life for a brief time to teach me some stuff about myself...very important stuff that I needed to learn. I know he is with the Lord now in heaven. I am surprised nothing was said about his faith in the obituary, that was kind of sad, but I am sure there was something said at his funeral. Prayers for the family and rest in peace with the Lord, Ron.

I was so saddened to hear of Ron's passing. Ron was an amazing person and coach. He was always there for both of my girls in high school and instrumental in club as well. Ron cared for each and every girl on his teams as his own. He kept the love of the sport in both of my girls. I am sorry that we missed his services. Rest in Peace Ron! Blessings to his family
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Yesterday was a very nice way of honoring one of the most considerate and compassionate men I've had the pleasure of meeting. Ron was a terrific coach who had an uncanny ability to connect with his players and help them get to a place they thought they could not. He had a very positive impact on my daughter Kelsey and for that I am forever grateful. He will be missed by many but his lessons and legacy will live on.
Rest in Peace Ron!

Ron was an awesome person and friend. I met Ron coaching volleyball at DMA and his compassion for not just the sport but the players showed what kind of individual he was. He will truly be missed. If there ever was an ace in volleyball Ron was it. GySgt Lemke

Ron was a great coach to work with at Concord High School. It was a pleasure working with him. He will be missed by many! My prayers go out to family and friends during this difficult time.

John 14:1-3 "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

Ron was the kindest and most sincere person I ever met. He was an incredible coach and later became a good friend. I will never forget the impact he had on my daughter's life and will miss his support and treasure the memories over the years. He will be greatly missed and know he will continue to "coach" us all from up above.

To my friend Chantel and her family, I am deeply sorry for your loss. May memories of happy times with your dad bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart. You are in my thoughts and prayers today and always.

Our daughter Colleen was a player for Ron. She also coached with him after she graduated college. She has always given credit to Ron for many of her coaching skills. I often spoke with Ron after games, he was always a class act. More coaches should take a lesson from Ron. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
