Robert “Bob” Horace Philhower, age 88, of Oxford, PA, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022. He was born in Morristown, NJ on August 24, 1934 to the late Horace Eddy Philhower and Esther Lillian (Lindeburg) Philhower. He was a devoted husband of 61 years to Lois Philhower.
A computer specialist in the Engineering Department at DuPont, Bob particularly worked at the forefront of computer programing, overseeing innovations in computer-aided design. Bob played basketball as a college athlete and continued to play and referee games during his years at DuPont. He served as an elder in the Presbyterian church for decades. Bob took great joy in photography, square dancing, model trains, and working in his garden. After retiring, he and Lois relished traveling throughout the US and abroad. Later in life he was a charter member of the model railroad club at Ware Village. Above all else, family was central to his heart. He adored playing, reading, and swimming with his grandchildren, and was always ready to create his own elaborative crafts and projects when they came to visit. He will be so dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bob is survived by his wife, Lois Philhower; son, Robert (Elaine) Philhower; daughter, Susan (Ray) Raylman; and two grandchildren: Naomi Philhower and Matthew Raylman
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Oxford Presbyterian Church, 6 Pine Street, Oxford, PA 19363 where family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 AM. Burial will be held at a later date. To send online condolences please visit, www.rtfoard.com.
