Robert “Bob” M. Thompson Jr. of Hockessin, DE, age 90, passed away at home Wednesday, November 11, 2020. Bob was born on March 19, 1930 in Wilmington, DE to the late Robert M. Thompson Sr. and Helen (Broomell) Thompson.
Bob graduated from Newark High School in 1948. He was drafted into the Marine Corps during the Korean conflict and served for 2 years. He then worked for DuPont as a Technician for 20 years. Bob loved to travel and especially enjoyed his trips to Wales to visit with friends and family. He loved being outdoors; especially gardening and cutting the grass on his John Deere tractor. Bob was also a private pilot and member of the National Experimental Aircraft Association as well as the local EAA chapter. He will be lovingly remembered as friendly, having a good sense of humor, and always enjoying a good debate. He will be greatly missed by his dog, Bailee.
Bob is survived by his wife of 34 years, Judy A. Thompson; daughter, Linda Wheeler (Bob) of St. Ignatius, MT; son, Michael Thompson (Mary) of Newark, DE; daughter, Anne Bleyl (Steve) of Woodbury, MN; step-daughter, Susan Barlow of Wilmington, DE; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his brother, William Thompson.
