Robert “Bob” Frank Ricci, 73, of Wilmington, DE, son of the late Augustine “Gus” J. Ricci and Julia C. (Fenza) Ricci of Crum Township, Ridley, PA, passed away Friday, February 18, 2017 at Wilmington Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Bob served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1967 including aboard the USS Oriskany in the Vietnam War and U.S. Navy Reserve at the former Bainbridge Naval Training Center. He received the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
After his service in the Navy, Bob worked as a Doble Electrician for Amtrak on the East Coast and ran his own electrical contracting company, Custom One Electric. He always enjoyed trains and automobiles, especially Corvettes and his Ford Mustang. Bob was fun-loving, spontaneous, and could always be found living in the moment. The greatest joy of his life was his daughter, Julia. He especially loved watching her dance.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Julia Marie Ricci of Cecilton, MD; step-daughter, Concetta “Cetta” Spalding of Wilmington, DE; step-sons: Chris Hahn of Cecilton, MD, Vincent “Vinny” Spalding of Wilmington, DE, and Mark Spalding and his wife, Barbara, of New Jersey; former wives: Natalie Scheeler Ricci of Cecilton, MD and Concetta “Connie” DeBright Spalding of Wilmington, DE; sisters: Sr. Virginia “Ginny” Paschall, IHM, Barbara Brenneck, and Janice Blewitt; and life-long friends, Mike and Donna Dillon of Wilmington, DE.
A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 318 George Street, Chesapeake City, MD 21915. Family and friends are also invited to meet at the funeral home at 9am on March 2, 2017 to go in procession to Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery for burial.
